Things I wanted to be when I grew up
An Astronaut
Like most kids, I wanted to walk on the moon, or more importantly, just go into space. Strangely, that wish hasn’t really gone away, and because of this, I probably know more about astrophysics, astronomy, advanced propulsion and our local galactic neighbourhood than the average person. That isn’t a boast, but an indication of my first love. I’ve even got comics published in the 50s and 60s about space.
A Vampire
This one’s self explanitory, mainly due to The Lost Boys, or possibly Bram Stoler’s Dracula, you know, the one with Keanu ‘plank’ Reeves.
A Footballer
I might have managed this one, if I’d not buggered my knees up, but I would only ever had made the conference. I was good, but not that good. In fact, of everyone I ever palyed football with, or saw play football, no-one ever made it.
Of course, I probably wanted to be something different every week, but I never imagined I’d be what I am now. I have a wonderful wife, a great family, and a standard of living that’s pretty decent. That’s the key to getting what you want, though; the drive to do better, achieve more and grow.
